About

Heather Kennedy is an illustrator, filmmaker, animal lover, and mom living in what is affectionately known as the Fairie Forest in Grass Valley, California.

She grew up in Sacramento, California in a magical Craftsman-style house filled with pets and the many whimsical antiques her parents collected.

Growing up, dance was a huge part of Heather’s life and what it taught her about rhythm and movement continue to influence her other creative pursuits of illustration and filmmaking.

Heather studied film at Long Beach State where she also met her husband, Mikael. The two of them worked in the heart of the Hollywood film industry for several years before moving back to Sacramento to be closer to family and nature. In 2015, they started their own production company while building and living in a custom, 24-foot tiny house on wheels set among a historic olive orchard.

After her son was born in 2021, Heather’s focus shifted from Creative Director to Director of Household Activities where she spent much of her time joyfully reading hundreds of children’s books to her son.

Now, through her custom, whimsical, and nature-inspired illustrations and artwork, Heather is sharing her unique creativity with others to add more joy, awe, and curiosity to the world.
